We love it when a college tries Maui Wowi smoothies for their campus events for the first time. Today it was Point Park University’s turn. We met Point Park’s students at the NACA convention and they couldn’t wait to have us on campus. The Pittsburgh-based university with 4,000+ students held a Welcome Back event to get students in the mood for the new semester. And contrary to what you might think, we make a lot of smoothies in the winter, especially on college campuses.

Maui Wowi was part of the Southern New Hampshire University “Celebrate with CAPE”event headlined by American Idol winner Kris Allen. Kris stopped by for a smoothie (or three) after rehearsal and before his set. He, his bandmates and the students has a great mix of music and fun — everything from smoothies, make-your-own-stressballs (finals are coming) and other activities. Maui Wowi hit the road this weekend for a three-college New England tour. First stop University of Connecticut for a late night event. Then smoothie masters Mark and Nathan (see their photo below) drove through the wee hours to Massachusetts (don’t wake them – they are still sleeping), where tonight they’ll be at Amherst College (for another late night). And after that they’ll be a Fisher College in the Boston on Monday — in the morning!

New Jersey Institute of Technology (#NJIT) had a Greek life event last week to get everyone interested in what fraternities and sororities have to offer on campus. How to get students to visit the quad and talk to members of different groups at 20+ tables — that was the challenge. The campus programmers came up with a fun theme – luau – and had Hawaiian decorations to create a fun atmosphere. They printed “passports” — cards that students had to get stamped at at least four tables. Once they had their stamps, students got a free Maui Wowi smoothie and a slice of Hawaiian-style pizza. #NJITSAC #NACA #theNACA #StudentActivities

ABC knows how to get the attention of ad agency media buyers during the all-important Upfront season. For 11 years running, ABC has partnered with Maui Wowi to bring smoothies to some of the biggest ad agencies in New York. ABC provides high-end custom cups, terrific signage, and a prize for a drawing at each agency (an iPad mini). Maui Wowi provides the bar, the blenders, the smoothies and the folks to make and serve them. This year’s Smoothie Tour flavors are Strawberry Banana, Mango Orange, and the barely legal (that’s how good it is) Cappuccino.
